Open Access Policy for "Sports Science and Health Advances"

At "Sports Science and Health Advances," we are committed to advancing knowledge in the field of sports science and health by fostering open and unrestricted access to research. As part of our dedication to the principles of openness, transparency, and collaboration, we have established the following Open Access Policy:

Open Access Publication

"Sports Science and Health Advances" is an open-access journal, which means that all articles published in the journal are freely available to the public without any subscription or paywall barriers. This allows researchers, practitioners, students, and the general public to access and benefit from the latest research findings in the field of sports science and health.

Author Retention of Copyright

We believe that authors should retain the copyright of their work. Therefore, when authors publish their articles in "Sports Science and Health Advances," they retain the copyright and grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish the article. This allows authors to share and disseminate their research freely while acknowledging the journal as the original place of publication.

Creative Commons License

To facilitate the broadest possible dissemination and use of published articles, all content in "Sports Science and Health Advances" is published under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY). This license permits users to copy, distribute, transmit, and adapt the work, provided they give appropriate credit to the original authors and source of publication.

Archiving and Preservation

Sports Science and Health Advances participates in the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) program, a decentralized preservation system developed by Stanford University Libraries. Through this initiative, the journal ensures long-term digital preservation and access by allowing multiple participating libraries worldwide to collect, archive, and maintain permanent copies of its published content. These distributed archives are designed to safeguard the journal's material against data loss, technological obsolescence, and other potential threats. In the event of a disruption or loss of access, these libraries can restore the content to ensure continued availability for researchers, scholars, and readers. This commitment to digital preservation supports the journal's mission to maintain the integrity and accessibility of its scholarly content over time. More..

Author Fees and Funding

To sustain the open access model and cover the costs associated with publication, "Sports Science and Health Advances" may require authors to pay an article processing charge (APC) (See APC Page) upon acceptance of their manuscript. However, we strive to keep these fees as low as possible and offer waivers or discounts for authors from low-income countries or those facing financial constraints. Details of the APC and any applicable waivers or discounts will be clearly communicated on our journal website.

Ethical Considerations

"Sports Science and Health Advances" adheres to strict ethical guidelines and standards. We require authors to comply with the highest ethical principles in conducting and reporting their research. Plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and any other unethical practices are strictly prohibited. Additionally, we expect authors to follow appropriate guidelines for obtaining informed consent and maintaining participant confidentiality.

Data Sharing

We encourage authors to share their research data and make it openly accessible whenever possible. Data sharing enhances the reproducibility, transparency, and impact of scientific research. We urge authors to deposit their datasets in recognized repositories or provide sufficient information for readers to access and utilize the data supporting their published articles.

By implementing this Open Access Policy, "Sports Science and Health Advances" aims to foster a global exchange of knowledge, accelerate scientific progress, and make valuable research freely accessible to all, ultimately benefiting researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and the public interested in sports science and health.
